I just got a new computer with XP...for some reason all
my downloads timeout for no apparent reason...this
happens with downloads in IE, IRC etc. so its not just
one program. I had no problems downloading with my
previous computer so it can't be my isp...any clues
and/or suggestions as to what the problem may be????

Hi Luke,
Try this advice, copied from 'Help', in O.E.
Increase the length for server time-outs

1.. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
2.. Select the account, and then click Properties.
3.. On the Advanced tab, in the Server Timeouts area, move the slider to
the right.
Rob.
