friend downladed onto a CD pages from a newsletter I wanted to save on my
computer. I believe he has Windows 98 and uses a program called "Publisher"
to put it together. My computer has Windows XP. When I try to download the
disc, I cant open it. The computer says its a (File Extension: .php) file
and directs me to two sites to get downloads so I can open it. However I
have no idea where to go or what to do when I go to these sites to get these
downloads. Is there something I can download quick and easy that will let me
open the files on this disc?

Thank you for your help,

Thank you for your help,

PHP is a programming language used in a lot of websites to display
active content. Unless Publisher has something else for the PHP
extension, try viewing it in Internet Explorer (especially if it's full
of code).

Unless Microsoft or someone else has a Publisher Viewer, you'll need
Publisher to open it.

Thank you. I will try what you suggested

If you friend was using a Microsoft program with "publish" in its name to
create the *.php file, then your friend was using Microsoft Publishing not
Publisher. They are different programs with different intended users {and
costs}.

Microsoft Picture It and Digital Image can also create and open *.php files.

Suggest you seek more expert help in microsoft.public.pictureit .
