I was told to download an update for Windows Mail before installing Windows 7
on my Vista laptop. Where do I find the correct download?

By running MS Update
If you are clean installing Win7 it doesnt feature any email program, you
will have to download / install one - Windows Live?

There is no "update" for Windows Mail.
Windows 7 doesn't come with an email program, so you will have to install
your own.
There is the newer Windows Live Mail which replaces Windows Mail.

Yeah, and that is probably what dinnerbelle is asking; in other words,
dinnerbelle needs to ask how to download Windows Live Mail, not an update.
If so, then MS Update won't do that; in fact, I am not aware of anything
called MS Update. You probably mean Windows Update.

I do not know from experience, but I have read that if Windows Live Mail
will be used after update, it is better to update to it before update,
regardless of whether the upgrade will be in-place or "clean".

Questions about Windows 7 are best asked in a Windows 7 newsgroup or forum.
You will get better answers that way. Also, your question has been asked
many times before so you really just need to find someplace that has
answers. This newsgroup is for Windows Mail exclusively and since that does
not work in Windows 7 unless you are very capable technically, you are not
likely to get good answers here. I am confident that you really just need to
read the documentation that Microsoft provided with Windows 7.
