Double Icons on Taskbar

Hello,

The strangest thing suddenly started on my computer.

The icons on the taskbar (Show Desktop, Outlook, Media
Player and Explorer) are on twice. Double! When I delete
one, the second icon disappears also.

Any suggestions how to get back to just 1 icon per
application?

Thanks

Sounds like the profile is corrupt. If the profile is corrupt, you can
rename the profile (while logged on as local admin), then when the user logs
on again a new profile will be created from the image in \default user. You
can then copy over the items you need
from the renamed profile. Copy the folder contents not the folders
themselves. When your sure you have all you need, you can delete the renamed
profile(s). Use the import function of your e-mail software.

Ok, I created a new profile, copied everything i needed
over and deleted the old profile....no more double icons!

The only trouble i had was I had to re-install a few
applications that wouldn't run properly from my new
profile. Don't know why but it all works now.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Dave,
could that be the reason I cannot get my start menu to maintain small
icons? I have to set them every time I boot the computer. But this is
in which ever user. I have 2 one being admin.

Possibly, what happens if you logon as a new user? (create a new account in
'Users and Passwords').

Thanks for answering,
sorry for taking so long getting back to you.
I created a new user but it doesn't change. I still have to make em
small every logon. Similarly with admin, some time ago I installed a
demo of a trojan killer. Ever since I have been unable to change it
permanently.
cheers
