Double buttons in Taskbar

I had a problem with my WinXP Pro taskbar. It didn't show my open
applications. I found a similar question posted by Steve and followed Alex
Nichol's advice and downloaded "Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!" and I thought it
worked perfect.

But when I re-started, I get all the buttons twice. My taskbar seems to be
split in two parts (other than quick launch and time) and all open
applications have buttons in both parts. I tried to use the same "Taskbar
Repair Tool Plus!" to "Restore to Default" but the repair button is greyed
out. I think that means that I need to buy a licence to use that option. Is
there anything else I can do to remove the second button for each application?

Thank you in advance.

That behavior would not have been caused by my utility. Which options have
your used/selected?

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for being so helpfull, for providing this treasure of utilities
and for your reply.

I chose "Minimized Programs Missing" from the "Taskbar Problems" dropdown
list and then hit "Repair". I didn't touch the "Notification Area" or "Quick
Launch Bar" lists.

Something is causing me problems. Can you help please?
