Doom 3 Crashing

OK I am very frustrated. I just got Doom 3 and when I am
playing and the action gets hectic Wham! I am at Desktop!
I have checked the Application log and found this for
every crash.

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot
be found. The local computer may not have the necessary
registry information or message DLL files to display
messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use
the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is
part of the event: 7.

Ok Microsoft mumbo jumbo what does it mean? Did the
install fail? am I missing some file? or is this just a
glitch in the Doom 3 game?

Update your video drivers, I was getting CtDs with ATI drivers 4.6 and
lower.

I'm bummed as well. When I play the game it hangs after
about 10 or 15 minutes...I have plenty of cooling so I'm
hoping it's a problem with the latest nvidia driver. I have
a Ultra 6800 and have dx9c installed. If anyone has seen
and resolved this problem, please let me know....

Thanks in advance!

Give me your computer specs and I will give you a reason
or a work around. 50% chance its the drivers on the guy
with the 6800, although the card is a beast, support is
very very low and its drivers are not very good.

the 6800 is a power hog too, if you dont have enough
power, i.e. shouldnt try to use it with less than a 500
watt power supply.

what size power supply?

Thanks for the responses:

P4 3.2 800 FSB
ABIT IC7-G
2GB Corsair Platinum DDR 400
SATA RAID 160GB
Audigy 2 ZS
PNY Geforce Ultra 6800
Antec 480watt ps
DX9C and Forceware 61.77
Thermaltake Xaser III case

I don't have problems with any other games or software. Just doom3. It
could be that it's just working my system too hard. I have ordered a video
card cooler (the dual fan model that fits under the vc in a pci slot) in
case
it's a heat issue. My best guess is that it is a video card driver problem
or
a problem with the DirectPlay features of DX9c.

Thanks in advance! I love this forum!

Thanks again for the response..I just went back to dx9b from a
backup I made prior to installing dx9c.
