Dont want to save document templates

When I use a template and when saving the document, Word asks if I want to
save the template as well. How do I stop this? (Save template automatically
is not ticked.)

Not really sure what you're asking. If you've made changes to a template,
there are two option generally speaking: save the changes or not. If you
want the changes to apply to new documents and to documents that have
"Automatically update document styles" enabled, then you need to save the
changes. I guess the question I would ask is if you don't want the changes
saved, then why are you changing the template in the first place?

Or, are you really just saying that you want Word to save the changes to the
template but not bug you about it? If this is the case, you can turn off the
prompt and changes to Normal.dot (or Normal.dotm if you're using Word 2007)
will be saved automatically. I don't generally like this option because I
want to know when/if something is trying to change Normal.dot(m), but I can
appreciate that in some enviroments, asking the user this question
constantly can create information overload.

Another issue to consider is that that some add-ons trigger the "has it
changed?" setting each time Word is opened, making Word think something
significant has changed, when it hasn't really. Some of the older versions
of Adobe Acrobat suffered from this annoying trait.

In any case, I don't know of a built-in way to automatically discard changes
to the template. But, if you simply want to turn off the prompt, in Word
2003, look in Tools - Options - Save, and remove the check next to Prompt to
save Normal template. This won't help with all templates, but could provide
some relief. (In Word 2007, click Office button - Word Options - Advanced
tab - Save section.

I don't know of a "Save template automatically" setting... so I'm not sure
what you might be talking about.

Windows XP Pro, Office XP Pro: No changes is made to the template. I use
templates placed on a SBS-server. I am not an "admin". 10 more persons are
using the same templates and they are not asked the question if they want to
save the template or not.

"Save normal.dot" option is turned off.

There are a number of add-ins that can make Word think that the underlying
template has changed -- Adobe Acrobat's add-ins have been notorious for that
behavior in the past. I would try removing add-ins to see if one in
particular is causing the "changed" flag to be set.
