"Domain Cannot Be Contacted"

Hello

I have recently replaced a hard drive in one of our company laptops and it has Windows 2000 Professional. We are able to access the domain and all network drives, however, we are trying to assign the laptop its original workstation name as an administrator. We receive the error, "The specified domain is either not available or cannot be contacted", or something to that effect when we attempt to join the workstation name to the admin group. We have tried several ideas from the knowledge base and also by using a user's manual for the OS. Any other suggestions to get the workstation name in the admin group

Thanks
Joel

This is almost always a DNS issue. Is the client pointing to the DNS server
hosting your AD namespace?
