I have windows xp home edition. I also just bought frontpage 2003 to build a
website. Does my windows version have a server I can use that is compatible
or do i need to get a server or server extention? can anyone help me? I am
new at this and looking forward to creating a website.

Sorry, you should have bought XP Professional. I would advise you to check
with your ISP to see if they even allow you to host web sites. Most don't.
Our Computer Club tried that for a number of months. It was a maintenance
nightmare! Try an inexpensive hosting company. I use
http://www.minnesotashopper.com for several of my sites. Their control panel
is a delight to work with and service is superb.

I do not understand what that last response is all about, but

Frontpage should run ok on XP Home Edition. Find you a local ISP provider
and they can help you in getting setup. Now you get what you pay for. (Try
an inexpensive hosting company) If you shop price, then do not expect to
much support with regard to setting up your First Site.

Usually, You are not contractually bond to a hosting plan. Now for your
first plan, it would be better if you found someone local as so they can
walk through the process and will be more than glad to help you out. After
you have an understanding on how to purchase domain names and assign dns
entries, then you can shop for the best plan on the net unless you are
satified with your local provider.

You can use Frontpage on your XP Home Edition just fine. The only thing is
that the forms that you create locally on your hard drive will not work
because you do not have IIS installed on your computer.
That is not a problem because usually forms are a small part of your web
site.

But, you can log on to your web site that your ISP is hosting and create the
forms online. NOTE: When testing forms online, do not use Frontpage preview,
use your web browser to test the form.

The bottom line is that you can create a Full Blown web site with XP Home.
Next to Frontpage, your Graphic editing program is going to be your next
most important program.

Hope this helps

I didn't see the firstpost or the response, but I noticed this post

I agree enitrely.

I use XP Home, FP 2002 and my ISP's free hosting facility. For graphics I
use Picture It! and (the free) IrfanView (and occasionally the free MS GIF
editor)

My web host has absolutely no extras.
That is,
No FP server extensions
No databases
No nothing (I know that's a double negative)

But I have managed to create a simple family site. It would be nice to have
visitors able to update data or leave messages, but such is life.

If I need to at a later date, I can then investigate paid hosts.

So, go for it

Chuck, and who ever can help,

I now have xp professional. Is there anyway you can help me by letting me
know if I can now publish a website with my frontpage 2003 program? and how
to do it? I have a few different websites built in the program and want to
publish them.

Your host server either supports the FP Server Extensions or they don't

To find out see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828909

If the do see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825528&Product=fp2003
(do not use the optimize options if you don't understand their impact)

If they don't see
