Hello Microsoft Tech Support.
I bought a Compaq Presario.
Computer Model No: S5000NX, S/N: M3370GW
Window XP OEM product key is K7V4Q-HFBPQ-PXXBB-QHJYW-FKJ6J
I started the system yesterday things went well. I connected the system to
Internet and started getting automatic updates. All updates went well. I
started my computer today the system came on well. Then I installed Compaq
Software and Reference Library software CD. System automatically rebooted.
After that the system kept rebooting and Windows never came up successfully.
I called Compaq tech support they told me that Windows Automatic Update
corrupted the registry so they asked me to use the recovery option. Does
Windows Automatic Update Corrupt Registry? The tech support also advised me
to disable Automatic Window Update feature and never to update my system
unless the update comes from HP?
I have another compaq computer. I have been using Automatic Windows Update
feature for the past 2 years and I never had problem. Did the Compaq Tech
Support provide me correct advice.
Please advice.
