Does an idle VPN use bandwidth?

Hello everyone.

I have a question, and I'll make it short and simple for now: Does a
connected, but idle, VPN connection between 2 win2k3 servers use any
bandwidth?

Ever since I created the VPN between the servers I've got the feeling that
my internet connection became slower.

Any ideas??

Idle VPN should not be consuming bandwidth other than echo messages to keep
the connection (TCP) up.

You can configure VPN to automatically disconnect, if it is idle for
perticular duration. Go to connection properties, options and set the idle
time before hanging up.
