Documents and Settings fodler hangs explorer.exe

Hi All,
I hope someone can help with this rather annoying problem.

When I go to My Computer and double click c: to go drive c: all the
files and folders appear quickly. If I then single or double click
onto the Documents and Settings folder it doesn't highlight or do
anything, it just hangs for 1-2minutes. That particular windown hangs
and doesn't respond until it comes back to life. The whole machine
slows down too but I can still open other windows and do other things.

It doesn't happen with any other folder under c:, only documents and
settings. Its been hapening for a couple of months or so now and I'm
finding it very frustrating. Eventually I can double click and go into
the folder without any problems. Things are normal from then on.

When the window is hung, I can go to task manager and explorer.exe is
running at 100%.

I run AVG antivirus which is upto date and regularly run Spybot and ad
aware. I have defragged and deleted all temp files, cleared histories
etc. Spybot shows up newdotnet which I haven't gotten around to
removing yet but I don't think that's too dangerous.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hello,

I am encountering the same problems on my pc and I was wondering if you
had already found a solution?
It would be a great help if you have.
I am also running avg antivirus and I have scanned for spyware using
Microsoft AntiSpyware but it didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

PS. If I come across something, I'll post it immediately
