Document Not Saved

Hi

I am having a problem that I cannot seem to figure out. I have checked on Microsoft technet and the solutions are not working

My users have Excel 2000 and when they try to save, they randomly get the following 2 messages

"Document Not Saved
"Disk Is Full

They are saving to a network share, but the disk as TONS of free space left

All the machines have Norton Anti-Virus on them, but I have tried while it is disabled and I still get the problem

At this point I am at a loss. Any help would be much appreciated. Please email me your suggestions

Thanks in advanc

I suspect that one of two things is happening.

1) You are on a Novell network. (Some time ago there was an issue with XL
saving to a random name. An update was posted on the Novell site.

2) Your version of NAV is interupting the delicate XL save process.

Each time, XL saves to a randomly named new temp file and when completed
deletes the original and renames the temp file with the original name. Some
Virus software detects this as a virus, jumps in and disturbs the process,
often leaving you with a temp file with a wierd name and no extension. (You
can search for this after the error by date and time modified)

Thanks for the feedback

1) I am not running a Novell network
2) I have disabled the Norton settings on the server and the users PCs that would look @ tmp files.

It is still not working. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

They do not have a .tmp extension, they have no extension. I would try
disabling it totally for a short while and see

We often have a similar situation... we also save to a
shared network and although (as in your case) there
appears to be plenty of disk space, the problem is
actually the allocation of that disk space that is
assigned to the individual users by the Network
controllers... maybe worth checking out!

Thanks for the feedback.

I have disk quota disabled. So the users can save as much as they want on the network share. Good thought. Any others?

Thanks

Mike
