Do reminders work in outlook when program closes?

I've tryed toying with this... but it does not seem to work. I'm wondering
then why the "MS OFFICE STARTUP" is in the STARTUP folder if it's not going
to really do anything notable other then speed up boot-times... is it just my
computer? im using OFFICE XP... The only way reminders work is when outlook
is running, or when it's closed **Item is supposed to happeN** and then a few
minutes later i open outlook and *reminder appears a lil late*

Outlook will only do things when it is open. When it is closed it is unable
to perform any operations
