Do not trust freeware from Executive Software Intenational, Inc

I downloaded Diskeeper Lite, a "Freeware" product of "Executive Software
International, Inc." It is a defragmenter. It overwrote my "dfrg.msc" file
in Windows\System32 so that now I cannot find or execute the Microsoft
Defrag tool. How can I restore my Microsoft Defrag tool?
What is worse, all products of Executive Software International, Inc. that
are advertised as freeware, are not freeware, they are "nagware". They are
nearly useless samples of their commercial software that will overwrite
existing capabilities and nag you to purchase the upgraded version of their
software.
Anyone who lies about small things, like being freeware, will lie even more
about large things, like the capabilities of their commercial versions. Do
not trust anyone or anything associated with Executive Software
International, Inc. They have no integrity.

Uninstall it, and your old defrag utility will come back

Oh, and you might not want to use windows' built in defrag utility, as they
wrote it for Microsoft.

Uninstall it through Add and Remove Programs. Then run System Restore to
revert back to a date prior to installing Diskkeeper Lite.

funny - funny - funny (perfect delivery)

Oh, and he *might* not want to use his real email addy
too,

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry
Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

Microsoft Defrag Tool is by Executive Software. Their defrag product like
Diskeeper Lite is an excellent product. I myself is using Diskeeper 9. If
you want to have their product back which is the Microsoft Defrag utility
then uninstall their other version.

There is no need to run System Restore, and giving such advise
unnecessarily can do more harm than good.

System Restore is a MUST after uninstalling that nag/spyware.

LOL! Have you actually tried to uninstall Diskeeper?

And if the software was installed months ago using a restore point that
far in the past can cause bigger problems.

System Restore should be used as a last resort, not as a cure all.

Thanks. My experience exactly.

Have you actually tried to uninstall Diskeeper? If not, then your
experience is not relevant.

Diskeeper replaced Diskeeper for MS XP. I won't ask why you did that. It
appears you expected more from the freeware product.

Freeware that doesn't ask you to buy the retail product is rare.

Upon examination of the website regarding Diskeeper Home Edition, the
product you downloaded is Trialware, not freeware. An attempted
misrepresentation on your part?

I've never seen trialware that wasn't free, but involves some kind of future
commitment once the trial use period has elapsed. Freeware is free period.

Ever hear of WinZip? There's a nag in that widely used program until you
register the product for a fee.

Trolling again are you Kurt?

LOL! Couldn't you just have answered the simple question posed to you?
But your diversion does say it all. You have never tried it, and you
don't know how long ago the OP installed Diskeeper, so your suggestion
about running system restore, is uninformed at best.
