Do not auto archive

I am using Outlook 2003 and have added the column "Do not auto archive" to my
Inbox. However, I cannot change the check box from unchecked to checked no
matter what I try. I've tried clicking, right clicking, options, properties
and I can't find an answer. Please can someone enlighten me as to why this
is not working as I would have expected it to?

You must set your view to "Allow in-cell editing" for that to work.
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Other Settings...-> enable option: Allow
in-cell editing
