manual archive insists upon 6 months

Outlook 2003 and Win XP Pro, SP2
I have my inbox and my sent items marked NOT to
auto-archive. Actually, I have all my folders marked not to
auto-archive.

I just tried to do a manual archive on my inbox choosing the
date of april 1, 2006 for the archive items older than....
I did the same thing on my sent items folder.

I checked the little box that says to ignore auto-archive
settings.

No matter what I've done (and I've tried several times),
Outlook seems to refuse to archive anything less than 6
months old. It seems to ignore the date I enter for the
archive.

Help?

TIA

Perhaps the issue is that your items are not as old as you believe.
Archiving doesn't use the Received date of an item, it uses the (usually
undisplayed) Modified date to determien if an item is old enough to archive.
