Do FP extensions need to be installed for subwebs?

I'm using FP 2000 and want to create a subweb. No problem with that much. Front Page Extensions
are installed on the parent web, but functions using the extensions (e.g., hit counter) don't work
on the subweb. My service provider says they only install FP Extensions on the root web.

Do I have any options here that will enable FP functions in subwebs?

By default, extensions installed on the root web also work with the subwebs.
However, hosts can prohibit them from working with subwebs. If they allow
subwebs, and many don't.

Also, I believe some things wont work at all (even on the original website).
Example, the search feature... to search your website only. If you have a
subweb, the search will not work on the original website.

I would like a fix to that.

As for your question. ... My extensions are on everything including all
subwebs.
