dns error

I'm running windows XP home edition on dialup (sprint), and have been
receiving 'this page will not load/dns error' messages. They're not happening
all the time, and it isn't page specific.

Two other possibly unrelated things. When I typed yahoo.ca into to the
address bar, down in the left hand corner by 'Finding Page:'? It was coming
up as www.www.yahoo.ca www.yahoo.ca.com.com etc.

Then when I attempted to connect to AVG to retrieve updates a messages
saying 'sever name can't be converted to IP address' came up.

I've since downloaded McAfee and my computer comes up virus free.
Apparently. This has all pretty much happened within the last five days. I
really only know enough about computers to use them, so searching help topics
only gets me so far as I'm not quite sure what to look for.

Thank you to anyone that will help.

Hi

What does

ipconfig /all

report for your DNS Server(s)?

Hi

The listing for the DNS Servers looks OK. Have you contacted Sprint to see
they have any problems?

Yes to both. They are having problems, but only with their mail service.

The tech I just spoke with had me go under internet options - advanced, and
set everything to default. Then open msconfig, go into startup and select
disable all. I don't know if it has helped, but I'm hoping.
