DNS error after networking wizard

2 computers in the house - Ran the networking wizard and
all seemed okay. Laptop can see the desktop and vice
versa. However they can only see each other with their
firewalls ( Norton ) turned off. I also cannot connect
the laptop to the internet - desktop connects fine.
Correction, the laptop DOES connect to the internet but
wont browse pages. keeps saying there is a DNS error and
when I try to detect Network Settings won't do anything.
What did I do wrong? Seems to me some changes were made
to the Browser settings on my laptop? Any ideas?

if both computers are behind a router, you may not need firewall in the LAN.
The internet access issue sounds like DNS settings problem. posting the
result of ipconfig /all here may help.
