I have a problem I cannot fix.
I’ve got Windows XP Home edition, with SP2
I have been recently having “windows explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close†messages.
This error has been occurring frequently, I have narrowed it down to usually
when I click on a folder that contains divx files or when I click to open the
divx file itself.
I have a desktop PC with a secondary hard drive, I have numerous folders
that enable me to navigate and open files at will. I have one specific folder
that contains about 30Gig of divx files, when I open this folder &/or files
I receive the windows explorer error message.
I also have an external ‘Maxtor’ harddrive, when I plug this into my PC or
Laptop, I can navigate and open various folders & files within the external
HD ok, but on opening one specific folder or files within the folder
containing some 30Gig of divx files, I get the same windows explorer needs to
close message. This occurs when I am plugged into either my Desktop or
Laptop.
Whats strange though is the fact that Divx files located in the C: drive of
my Laptop work fine when I open and play them.
I have used various spyware / virus / registry programs, have found the
files etc appear to be clean.
I’ve tried removing my Divx program, but still get these messages on trying
to open the same folders.
I don’t know if its to do with the external harddrive, a virus that has’nt
been detected, too much Gig in a folder ……………… Its got me baffled.
Any help or similar experiences appreciated
