Display Properties under the Advanced tab caused the follow error:

Run a DLL as an application has encounted a problem and needs to close.
Error Signature, Rundll32.exe
 
"Rundll32.exe" is a virus file and should be removed immediately!

If I am not mistaken Carey RUNDLL is a bad file, but Rundll 32.exe ia a
windows system32 file?

Installed the latest video driver for winXP, also copied the original
rundll32.exe from the winxp cd to system32.....any other suggestions would
really be appreciated..Irv

No, Jim it does not. I have run McAfee and run symantec virus scans and no
virus found......Please advise

Rundll32 is no such thing. It is an essential system component used to
run dll files in many contexts. But the file it is being asked to run
may well be malware
And of course there may be a malware file masquerading. The proper one
should be in windows\system32 - any in Windows is suspect

This is likely to arise from some additional facilities that have been
added by video cards drivers. Upgrade to latest version - and with ATI
cards, make sure you get a current 'ATI Control Panel'
 
I think this applies only if the trojan adds a certain value to the
registry.
