Can't Add or Remove Programs from Control Panel

Just started getting an application error when attempting to open the "Add
or Remove Programs"
feature in the Control Panel applet in XP (sp2). The first error message is:
"Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."
This message appears as a dialog box in the "Add or Remove Programs" applet
itself. The 2nd error message is a Dr.Watson dialog box that pops up after
closing "Add or Remove Programs" that states:
"rundll32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."
There is also an application error event added to Event Viewer with Event_ID
1000 that states:
"Faulting application rundll32.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00750063."
Never saw an error like this one before and need help in solving to avoid
yet another OS reload. . .

Do note that there is severe malwares that will block entry and even
disable security software. This includes where you are at (Add/Remove
Programs) and also Windows Explorer (Program Files) and even will
block entry to the Windows Registry. They do this because they know
the user is trying to uninstall the spyware or virus.

If you are completely stuck try a manual uninstall of the unwanted
software by opening Windows Explorer. How ? Go to the Start icon at
lower left. Right Click it and on the menu click "Explore". This will
open Windows Explorer. Next click C-Disk to open the folder tree. Skim
down to Program Files and open that tree of folders. Look for the
Folder by name of the unwanted software. If you are absolutely sure it
is software you do not want you can safely click Delete of just the
folder by name and nothing else. There will no doubt be some extra
files or registry entries left over. The unwanted software will no
longer operate if you delete any part of it. It is recommended that
you check out and use a registryn Cleaner that will scan the PC and
delete all left over items from uninstalled software. Even the best
and most well known softwares still leave fragments of installations.
These will clutter up and slow down the PC and even crash it after
long times of instaling and uninstalling software or doping other
downloads.

So if you feel there may be a malware preventing entry to anywhere on
your PC then get over to Microsoft and install and run the Malicious
Software Removal Tool. You can also use the McAffe antivirus "Stinger"
Malicious Software Removal Tool - about the same thing. Also Symantec
Norton has one free for download. The scan should take 10 to 20
minutes and should be done when rebooting into Safe Mode which will
stop malware processes from running and allow safe deletion of the
threat.

PS.... You will also want to do a full scan with antispyware.
