When I reboot or restart Windows vista, the display settings revert back to
600 x 800 dispay settings making the icons huge and if I try to go to display
settings to change it back the page is so big it won't let me get to the
settings slidbar and apply buttons. I am able to get the settings back but
the next time I reboot I am right back to this sutuation

A. The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't? If you can identify a particular
change, reverse it.

B. Update your video drivers. General information about drivers (and see
the part about rolling back if A. above is that you installed new drivers):

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor or System Information for Windows.

If you have installed drivers from Windows Update, you can roll them back:

Geek - http://tinyurl.com/346lox

C. This symptom often means the video card is going. If A. and B. don't
help, uninstall the card and swap it out for a known-working one.
Obviously you can't do this if your computer is a laptop so in that
case, call the laptop mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement.

If you need more help please provide more information since you forgot
to tell us anything about your computer itself.

.... also check if your monitor driver is installed... pending what make of
monitor you have. Typically, when there's no EDID or other .inf re. your
display's capabilities, Windows will pick the default minimal settings.
