After installing Flight Simulator, every time I reboot my laptop the
display settings revert back to 1024x768. I can go in to the control
panel and manual change them back to 1600x1200, but the next reboot
will clear it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

FS is not exactly the kind of game or simulation you would want to run
on a notebook computer. Most notebook computers do not have the fast
3D rendering and video response that come with desktop video adaptors.
FS (especially the last two newer versions) is video intensive.

Most notebooks will default to the resolution they were designed to
work best in. My Toshiba likewise defaults back to 1024 x 768. I'm
not sure you can change that since the video chipset is built in to
the notebook motherboard.

FS will switch to its own idea of the best resolution - it *ought* to
switch back again on exit, but may not be doing so, or your video driver
may not be responding.. You should be able to adjust the resolution it
uses in its Settings (immediately after load) then clicking on Display
and then the Hardware page, The penalty of setting it up to your
machine's native resolution is more cpu demand.

It *might* help to go to Control Panel - Display - Settings, click
advanced and select Compatibility 'After I change . . .' to be 'Apply
new settings without restarting' (middle option)
