losing display setting at reboot

Greeting,
*succinctly* Recently, when I reboot, I lose my current display settings.
I don't know exactly what the settings are that I like, but, I end up having
to changing the change the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 accepting the
changes, then changing them back to 800x600. I have to do this every time I
reboot. I'm sure it's from some of the software I recently unintalled.

Help would gratefullly apreciated,
Badclown

Try uninstalling/reinstalling your video card drivers. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

Hello Malke, thank you for your response.
I do not believe the issue to be hardware related, however. For one thing,
only the ADMIN account I was using to do the uninstalls was affected, not the
other accounts.

It seems more likely that one of the HKEY settings in the registry is
configured incorrectly, or deleted. Especially since I can get the setting
to be what I want, before I reboot.

Ah, so you weren't being *succinct* in your first post, you were leaving
out important information like the video working fine in other
accounts. I really need a new crystal ball.

What program do you think hosed your settings? If this was a sudden
change; i.e., you installed the program and uninstalled it pretty soon
afterwards, just do a System Restore to when everything worked.
Otherwise, I'm sorry but I don't know what the mystery program did to
your account. Maybe reinstalling the video drivers would put things
right.

Good luck,

Malke
