Microsoft Flight Simulator X 24 bit video message on startup.

I'm Running Windows XP Pro.
Hardware..
AMD® AthlonT 64 X2 - 4600+
Asus® Crosshair, Socket AM2, NVIDIA® nForce® 590
Asus® Extreme EN7600GT/2DHT

The Error when starting up FSX is ..
"Flight Simulator has detected one or more of your monitors is using 24 bit
color quality. Flight Simulator is incompatible with this display mode.
Would you like to change your display settings? [ Yet / No ]"

FSX worked on my machine for a very long time, this situation just started
recently out of the blue.

I have tried..
- Running the FSX repair.
- Uninstalled/Reinstalled including manually deleteing entries from
Regiestry.
- Reinstalled DirectX
- Updated Nvidia Drivers
- Changed Monitor Drivers
- Disabled Remote Desktop Sharing
- Obviously changed from 32bit to 16 multiple times hoping it would wake up.
- Queried MS Knowledge base .. no luck. Like the issue does not exist.

I have lost hair trying to resolve this situation, and would greatly
appreciate any advice/assistance.

I would start from scratch. In other words I would do the following :

1.. Uninstall Flight Simulator
2.. If you have an onboard video card enable that one and use the Device
Manager to uninstall the high-end video card. If you just have the high end
model then first switch to a low display resolution and desktop size
(800x600 on 8bit Res) and then do the removal.
3.. Uninstall the display driver software that you downloaded.
4.. Restart the system.
5.. When the Add New Hardware wizard starts doing its thing cancel it of
possible and use the software that is for the video card to reinstall the
drivers.
6.. Make sure that software as well as the system is up-to-date.
7.. Set up your display resolution the way you like it.
8.. Reinstall Flight Simulator.

Let us know how these steps work out.

When FSX asks you if you wish to change the video display (yes/no) and you
choose yes... what happens?

If you select yes the display settings box appears.. where you can adjust
your bit rate etc.
But its already set to 32.

Problem Solved.

The workaround/solution was found at ..

Long story short and I know this is going to sound crazy but it worked for
me.
Start Netmeeting.. "C:\Program Files\NetMeeting\conf.exe" and then I
right click on the taskbar icon and close it. thats it.
