Had to reinstall XP so I'm sort of starting over. Color quality is at 16
bit - there are no other options. Screen resolution 640 x 480, and cannot
be changed. On Advanced tab, DPI is grayed out at 96, however all
compatibility options are available. On the Troubleshoot tab, the Hardware
Acceleration slide can be moved, doesn't seem to change anything else
though.

Would appreciate any suggestions on how to get going.

Hi,

You are in VGA mode, you need to install the proper supporting drivers.
These are best downloaded and installed from the manufacturer of the system
or video card.

Find the Windows XP driver disk or cdrom for the display
adapter and install the video drivers.

Been through ever disk I have for the comp (dell 3000), refuses to find
ethernet, audio or video hardware. Deleted them in safe mode, on reboot
comp found them all, but all 3 come up "Cannot install this hardware
....because the wizard cannot find the software" Fax/modem card is not
original, all others are. Software for fax/modem installed OK.

Still stuck in VGA, can't get on the internet to download drivers.

What to do? All help greatly appreciated.

There might be an utility cdrom or diskette that came with
the Dell. It would contain all of the driver files that are
needed for the items listed. If cannot locate, then beg or
borrow access to an internet site and download from Dell.
