let me store its pictures in another folder and it

Your wallpapers are stored in C:\Windows\web\Wallpaper

Those jpg's (and occasional bmp's or gif's) are the items which show up in
your Display Properties > Desktop > Background options.

You could navigate to the folder, click the View to thumbnails, and make
folders for several general catagories like "Scenery" - "Girls" -
"Airplanes", etc., and drag (or cut & paste) most your pictures into these
sub-folders, leaving only a few of your current favorites, the 800x600
jpg's, in the "Wallpaper" folder. Then only the jpg's will show when you
access the options via display properties.

You could also create shortcut(s) to those folders so you could quickly go
in and rearrange when it suited you. The only squawking you'll get is if
you try to cut or delete the currently displayed background - but you can
copy it easily.

Also now I'm saving my pictures to another folder till
then, but some programs I use (for example webcam) don't
let me store its pictures in another folder and it
automatically creats a folder everytime in my pictures
folder. So these appear in wallpaper list.

Sounds like a webcam program that needs replacing with one with some
options? Can't quite figure out why I'd want a webcam program that
defaulted snapshots to C:\Windows\web\Wallpaper but who knows - guess you
could patrol in there and sort 'em to your liking periodically.

Hi,

The pictures that show up under display properties, desktop are located in
these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

Another checkpoint:

Type in Start Run
"%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"

To hide and/or remove/relocate:

Under My Computer scroll down to Shared Documents/Shared Pictures. If
Shared Pictures is listed, remove it.

TweakUI for XP: Unchecking "Lock Web Content" under Explorer to be added
to desktop disables the pictures from being listed.

Workarounds:

Create another folder (under your user profile), remove the pictures from My
Pictures that you don't want listed under Backgrounds and in the My Pictures
folder, create a shortcut to the new folder. Or create subfolders within My
Pictures.

Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 117

Disable Default Save As to My Pictures (Line 263)

Add Folder to Start Menu to replace/re-route My Pictures (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
