Display problem

I changed the display settings - I think I went to 1152X864 - and then I
accepted the changes. Screen looked ok. But on reboot, I get past the
initial XP splash, but when the blue XP screen comes up it won't display -
lots of squiggly lines.

How do I force the display settings back to something that I can work with?
I tried last known good configuration - no help. I tried safe mode - no
help. I need to push it back to something basic like 800X600 so I can get it
working again.

Can you work in Safe Mode? if yes, then remove the display drivers within
From Device Manager. Restart your computer and after next normal boot of
Windows it will automatically reinstall the drivers and may the problem will
solved. You can also try Enable VGA Mode in Boot Menu instead of Last Known
Good Configuration.
