Display options

I've already posted this under general discussion, but am not getting any
useful answers there so I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I've got a user who was my last user using windows 2000 SP4. She finally let
me upgrade her to Windows XP. This user has the most unique desktop settings
I've ever seen she likes everything VERY LARGE.

Anyways I'm trying to mimic her display settings in XP SP2 to be just like
the settings in her previous W2K machine and I'm falling short.

I've narrowed down to 1 thing, her theme. Her W2K theme was windows classic
(extra large). That's not an available scheme in XP. In the display
settings there's fewer choices, but the choice to find more themes on line
only gets me to the good ole "We're sorry we are unable to service your
request" and searching for Schemes, Desktop Themes, or Desktop display isn't
getting me anywhere. So again something I thought was going to be easy .....

Then I thought I could just copy the Her theme from her W2K machine and put
it in her windows\resources directory on her new machine, but live somewhere
else in the W2K machine and it's not apparent where.

I'm pretty sure this is something I can download, just not sure what
keywords to use to get there. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The user wants her old W2K machine back and that's not the direction I want
to go.

you might have some
luck by disabling the
themes service via
admin tools>services.

Here's the closest I could get to the W2K look of Windows
Classic (Extra Large) on an XP system.

Open Display Properties in Control Panel.
On the Themes tab, select Windows Classic.
Close Display Properties.
Next, go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Accessibility
and launch the Accessibility Wizard.
In the Accessibility Wizard, hit the Next button.
Under Text Size, click on "Use Microsoft Magnifier, and large
titles and menus."
Hit the Next button.
You can close out the Magnifier by clicking OK and Exit.
Back in the Accessibility Wizard, under Display Settings
uncheck "Use Microsoft Magnifier". Leave "Change the font size"
checked.
Hit the Next button.
Under Set Wizard Options, put a check mark next to "I am blind
or have difficulty seeing things on screen".
Hit the Next button.
Select the second option under Scroll Bar and Windows Border
Size.
Hit the Next button.
Select Large under Icon Size.
Hit the Next button.
Select the appropriate color scheme.
Hit the Next button.
Select the Extra Large mouse cursor.
Hit the Next button twice and click Finish.

Good luck

You might want to create a system restore point before trying
any of the suggestions you receive. That way you can at least
get back to the current setup.
