Disparity in def. mechanisms for file extensions

Hi All,

The question: I can't specify an Edit method for the .rbw extension,
because selecting RBW in the Folder Options windows offers only a
Change button but no Advanced button. How can I get the Advanced
button to appear?

The details:

I've got two file extensions of particular interest to me: .rb
and .rbw

When I click
-- Tools | Folder Options in Windows Explorer, then:
-- File Types tab in Folder Options, then
-- RB under Extensions,

I get the two buttons "Change" and "Advanced". They allow me to
define:
-- the "Open" action if I double-click an xxx.rb name in Windows
Exploer
-- the "Edit" action if I right-click the same name and select "Edit".

But if I select RBW under Extensions, I don't get an "Advanced"
button. The double-click action works as intended (and differently
than the .rb action.) There's no way however to specify an "edit"
action.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance,
Richard

I forgot to mention that the .rbw extension had a restore button. In
desperation :), I tried it and it restored the "Advanced" button
without disturbing the double-click functionality.

However, the restored button is disabled. So I'm half-way there. I
hope someone has an idea about going the rest of the way.

I also found a post using Google at www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/folderoptions.reg
suggesting the a 3-line (plus blanks) Registry batch file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
\Explorer]
"NoFolderOptions"=dword:0000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
\Restrictions]
"NoBrowserOptions"=dword:00000000

I added the double-word values manually using RegEdit to no apparent
effect.

I'm going to keep Googling.

Regards,
Richard
