Making sure this box isn't checked doesn't help me. I still can't see my
file extensions.
My computer's on a domain here at work, but I spoke to my boss (The I.T.
Manager and CIO) and he assures me that there's no restriction on the domain
controller that might be causing this.

Does anyone have any diea why I can' view my file extensions?

In the same place, is "Hide extensions for known file types" ticked? If so,
untick it; also tick, "Show hidden files and folders".

Do they HAVE file extension? How do you know?

Yes, I've tried this. I untick the "Hide file extensions for known file
type", click Apply and OK, but the file extensions still don't display. When
I go back into folder options, the "Hide file extensions..." is ticked again.

Yes they do. All the file icons are the same as the applications used to view
the files (Excel icon for spreadsheets, Word icon for documents, etc)
