File Extensions

Trying to find the "exe" file extension in folder options-
file types, so that I can have the "exe" extension
visible "only". (Have selected hide file extensions for
known file types in other section so that I can select
the "exe" extension only in folder options/file types).

The other extensions are there, zip, etc, but exe is'nt,
however it is there somewhere because if I type in exe as
a new file extension, it says that exe is already
associated.

Using Win98 and XP.

Thanks,
D Bache

Hi,

Hide Selected/Specific File Extension Paths (Line 190)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you
may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a "malicious" script, this is
normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. These
scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry.

It is not present, because EXE is not associated with any program - each
file opens 'of itself'. While you can set individual extensions to
'never show extension'. the only way I think you would get *only* one
particular one to be shown is to enable visibility and then manually add
that 'Nevershowextension' to all other registry entries. I *don't*
advise it
