Dismiss Reminders

I deleted two meetings in my diary on Outlook 2007. The reminders of these
two meetings are now constantly popping up. I am not able to dismiss these
and it is very irritating. How can I get rid of these reminders and why are
they there if the meetings were deleted well in advance of taking place??
 
Reset your reminders by starting Outlook with the cleanreminders switch;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanreminders
