has taken up , it shows there is 12 gb but when i click on my documents
inside folder joe it only shows 5gb used space and the space used on the
other folders doesnt add up to the full amount of 12 gb. how do a get rid of
the extra 7 gb that is taking up room when i can't even find the folder that
is taken up all the space????

Empty out this folder:
c:\documents and settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp

The Local Settings folder is not visible by default but you can change this
in the Folder Options located in the Control Panel.

Within Folder Options, click the View tab and select "Show hidden files and
folders".

You could also directly go to the Folder without changing any settings by
typing/pasting the following in the Run dialog box or an explorer address
bar:

%temp%
or
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp

You should also run the Disk Cleanup tool every so often.

Or install and run CCleaner.
