Free space on Hard Drive

I have two drives on my computer - one of 120 GB which is the main drive and
another drive of 200 GB where I temporarily store my holiday movies for
editing. Since each 1hr cassette takes 13G plus of space I need an enormous
amount of space . At the moment I have 5 cassettes stored which have taken up
62.4GB . There are no other VISIBLE folders but used space is shown as
124Gb. I suppose that the other 63GB of used space have been goobbled up by
backup(?) files which I do not need.
Will appreciate a solution how to clean up this valuable 63GB of disk space
and how to set drive not to make these hidden back up files any more.
Many thanks in advance to the good soul who will solve my problem.

Are the drives formatted as FAT32 or NTFS?

Hope this helps.

Do you have System Restore enabled on that drive? If so then shut if
off *for that drive only*.

System Restore is really only of use on the partition(s) where
operating system files are installed, but it is invaluable for them.

Good luck

What tool was used to format the drive? Do you use any Norton / Symantec
products?
