Disk Drives and OS

I'm running XP Pro and installed a new disk drive today, replacing one
that died.

Currently, drive 0 has C and E volumes, with Disk Management showing C
as the System. Drive 1 has G and F volumes, with G showing as
Active. I copied the C disk to the new drive in case drive 0 should
fail.

When I start Windows, it asks me to select which XP I want. Before
this setup, I had switched the drives so that drive 0 had G and F,
drive 1 had C and E; and Windows did not offer the selection.

I'm curious why it asks now, but not before and, more importantly,
what can I do to eliminate the asking, so that it will default to the
OS on the C volume.

I was hoping to re-letter C and then re-letter G to C, but wasn't
successful. Is there any way to do this, so my new drive would be
drive 0?

Thanks for any help.

Check your boot.ini file...it can be opened with notepad.
Check the paths...and delete the one you do NOT want to use....save and
reboot
