I have re-formatted my C drive but now cannot see my other two HDD's both of
them appear in BIOS but after opening windows and checking in My Computer
only the C drive shows, one of them is an IDE & the other a SATA, in disk
management the IDE drive shows, and in device manager, the SATA drive doesn't
show in either I have tweak 2 but this doesn't help at all, how can I access
these drives as I have important information on them

Sounds like either a bios setting - refer to your mobo manual for sata
usage.
Or maybe you havent updated windows - MS updates NOT driver updates

Have you installed your SATA controller drivers?

You'll need to assign a drive letter to them in Disk Management.

I have installed fastrax SATA raid drivers for my C drive this works fine but
I cannot find a driver for a single SATA drive & I cannot give the the drive
a letter because it does't show, anyway what about the IDE drive, different
problem ?

I think I will have to check out the ASUS website as there isn't anything in
the manual that gives me a clue to the problem, I have checked the BIOS
several times to find a solution but did not find one

If I can't get the computer to recognise my drives without re-formatting them
how do I retrieve the infomation on them ?

You need to check your mobo manual for precise instructions in using the
sata raid controller.
This may include amending a mobo bios setting, or a raid bios setting, and
or installing sata/raid drivers from floppy, using the F6 option early in
the win setup/repair process.
There is not a universal how to for raid/sata controllers - instructions
vary

How do you expect to format a drive that the computer does not recognize?

How many SATA drives do you have? I noticed that you are using Raid drivers
for your C drive. That implies that there are at least two physical drives.
Yet you say that you have another SATA drive but cannot find single disk
drivers for it.

I thought that most motherboards only have two SATA plugs. Perhaps you
should tell us more about your hardware configuration.

IME that's the usual "problem" folks have with SATA drives. For whatever
reason it's one of those easily missed, or not even mentioned, details.

Good catch, IMO, whether it's the fix the OP needs or not.

How are you trying to do that? More details when you respond, please.

Start; Programs; Administrative Tools; Computer Management, Disk Manangement
will take you to the dialog where you can see unlettered drives and give
them a letter.

No, I don't know why it's not automatic as with ATA drives.

HTH, please let us know.

My C drive is a raid array comprising 2 Maxtor 120 gig SATA drives my other
two drives are 1 IDE Maxtor 120gig drive and the other which I bought to back
up my C drive prior to reinstalling windows (better than 15 or 16 4.7g dvd
disks and 20hours or so of my time, My motherboard is an ASUS A8V Delux which
has SATA connectors and SATA RAID connectors 4 in all

I'm having this problem too. I found the disk manager. My RAID array shows
up as "disk 1, dynamic, foreign". I have data on the array, and it was
running fine under XP (SP2) before I replaced my boot disk.

The only choices I see are "convert disk" which wants to reformat, or
"import foreign disk" which gives me an error message.

I want a drive letter for my array. Any help will be appreciated.

I have the same problem. Found disk manager, but only choices I get are
"convert to basic" and "import foreign". My array is listed as foreign, with
a yellow "!" on it. I have data on the array and it was running fine under
XP before I replaced my boot disk. "Import foreign" gives me an error
message; "convert" wants to reformat.

I just want a drive letter for my Array. Any help will be appreciated.
