Trying to load TurboTax, I got an error indicating it was
trying to write to disk C, though the Program Files is
located on my local disk E. Most of the load worked.
How do I change local drive to be called C: ? Thanks, I
am a beginner.
You'll have to uninstall TurboTax by going to Start > Settings > Control
Panel > Add/Remove Programs, then select TurboTax to remove. After doing
this, delete the C:\Program Files folder and subfolders that apply to
TurboTax. Be careful not to delete something you don't want to lose! If it
were me I'd then remove all mention of TurboTax from the registry, either
manually or using a third-party registry checker like Norton Windoctor or
Registry 1st Aid. Don't mess the registry manually unless you know what you
are doing!
Re-install TurboTax, and when prompted for the folder to install it, hit
"Browse" and pick the folder in E: in which you want to install the program.
If you want all program files to be located on E: you'll need to do this
every time you perform a program install, as most default to C:\Program
Files, and it would really be best to use this drive and parent folder
unless you have a good reason for doing otherwise.
