Disk Defragmenter says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled"

When I open up Disk Defragmenter, the program opens up but in the main window
it says "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" I have tried turning off my
Firewall and Antivirus to see if they were blocking anything, tried System
Restore to a point where it was working, and I have tried running it in Safe
mode but I still get the same problem. I am using Windows XP SP2 with all the
latest updates.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Disk Defragmenter requires no internet access.

Do you happen to have Internet Explorer 7 installed?

Navigation to the webpage was canceled seems to be an IE7 deal.

The page cannot be displayed is what IE6 displays.

I do not see how IE6 would be related, but IE7 seems to cause all kinds of
problems.

Yes, I do have Internet Explorer 7 installed, my family has 2 other computer
with Internet Explorer 7 and Disk Defragmenter works, maybe I should try
reinstalling Internet Explorer 7 anyway and see if it works.

See if this helps:

Click Start, Run and type:

regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll
regsvr32 dfrgui.dll

If that does not help, try reinstalling Disk Defragmenter.

Did you get any error messages?

Wesley Vogel, I tried uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 and the Disk
Defragmenter just said "Action Cancelled" (IE6 style webpage error), I then
installed IE7 again and it still does the same "Navigation to the webpage was
canceled".

Ramesh, I also tried all the things you said and went to that website but I
still get the same problem.

Thanks for your help so far people : )

typed in regsvr32 dfrgui.dll a message box says: "dfrgui.dll" is not an executable file and no
registration helper is registered for this file type."

That's the info I wanted. But why didn't you post that earlier? ;-)

Anyway, expand a new copy of dfrgui.dll from the Windows XP CD / source path, or copy the file from DllCache folder to the System32 folder.

This didn't work for me. I was able to register the snap DLL, but it
failed on the gui DLL. When I try to move or delete that DLL, I get an
error that indicates that it's corrupt and cannot be
moved|copied|deleted|opened (whatever I try). I can't open it in an
editor (hex or text) either... ideas?

Try renaming it to BAD.BAD and see whether it will delete OK.

D.

you might want to try " perfect uninstaller " .
it's free .
when you do delete your problem , i might
suggest " defraggler " or " auslogic " , both
free .
