Disk Data Recovery- Need Help

On an XP Home/SP2 system, I used PartitionMagic to merge two partitions on my
system disk. The operation aborted, and when rebooted, it was as if my system
disk wasn't there. Since then:
1) Ran the Recovery Console, and did CHKDSK /R, which reported an error
fixed. I can now see my disk, by shows empty.
2) Installed XP on my second disk. I can see the (old) system disk as empty.
CHKDSK reports no errors.

My question: Any hope that data might still be on the disk - how can I
recover?
Thanks

You might want to try Partition Table Doctor.

Your data is probably still intact, but when PM tried to merge
partitions it may have mucked up your partition table. If the
partition table is wrong or corrupt, no data will be visible on the
drive.

Thanks to both who responded -- I tried a demo version of one of the
products, and after a scan I can see my files.
Thanks again -Nathan
