Disk check in XP stops after phase 2. 'Windows is unable to complete disk
check'
Any ideas what the problem could be? My other comp networked with this one
has no trouble with disk check. It has XP also.

Your hard drive is probably going. Back up all data immediately. Test
with a diagnostic utility from the hard drive mftr.

chkdsk can only be used up to phase 2 if windows is running. (read only)
From the command prompt type chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r.
It will ask you if you want to run chkdsk on the next boot. Answer Y.
Reboot. _DO NOT_ press a key while it is counting down.
