Disconnecting from internet

This question is for a friend of mine who is not very good solving problems
on her own. She is operating windows XP SP1. She said all of a sudden when
ever she goes on the internet that she get disconnected from the internet in
about one minute after getting connected. The following statement is in her
own words:

I've tried to go online several times and after about a minute my computer
disconnects. I get three error pop-ups each time it disconnects.. One
saying "Error in Winsock module. Connection structure is unknown. Possible
Reason: Your
firewall and / or antivirus application block the system files:services.exe
Make sure that services.exe can connect to the internet. The other pop-up
reads the same but instead of "services.exe" in both places, they read
"csrss.exe and "smss.exe"

Since she cannot go on line she cannot get access to the tools necessary to
check out her system. I would appreciate some input on what she could do so
she would be able to stay on line so she could have access to all the online
tools. She has checked her system with Norton but Norton was unable to find
anything. Thanks

Wayne, she could rt click Taskbar>select Task Manager>Processes>Look for
services.exe, csrss.exe and smss.exe.
They should be there. She should do a check for Malware. Trojans,
spyware and adware as well as Virus when she
can get back online. Basically she should try a System Restore before
this problem started. Go to Start>All Programs>
Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Just follow the Instructions.
If all goes well here are some free sites she
can use.
