Disc drives not being recognized

Well, one day oout of the blue both of my disc drives
stopped being recognized by windows. They open and
close. They make the noise that indicates its reading
something when you put a disc in. They don't autorun.
Then when you click on my computer nothing is there.

You may want to suspect malware. What you have is a common electronic prank
these days. Download and use both AdAware and Spybot. They are free and they
can detect and help you deal with malware/spyware/scumware.
