Disappearing support for dual-monitor

Hello,

I have a ThinkPad A31p running Windows XP.

I was previously able to work in dual-monitor mode when docked: under
"display settings", select the 2nd monitor and check the "Extend my
desktop" box.

However, I have recently undocked the laptop without unchecking this
option.

Ever since then, no matter what I try, I cannot re-enable dual-monitor
support. The most I can get is to have both monitors show the same
image. Whenever I check the box, the change won't "stick" (i.e., after
I approve, there is no dual monitor support and the box is unchecked).

Can anyone please help? (A reply by email would be greatly
appreciated.)

Try installing/reinstalling your video graphics and monitor drivers.
