Always make sure you open your web in FrontPage,
then import your images when using Folder View.
Then link to your images.
The images *must* be in a location *inside* your web.

yes it in f.p and it happens to larger pics as well also all are in are in a folder inside website

I browse to "my pictures" and select a photo to insert in a page, and when I save the page, there is a dialog box that asks me where I want to save, change folder, modify the pic, etc. NEVER had a problem with that. Same holds true if I copy, cut/paste, drag/drop, using explorer, FP always found it, pointed to it correctly, and published all the new files
For other files as well as pics, this has worked. Many times I have "saved as" (as in email attachment) and sent directly to a web folder without any prob whatsover. The only time I had a prob was on restoring a file from a published web backup on my HD. I found that even "importing" fouled up the hyperlinks
So, I question the "import" file requirement vs drag/drop et-el. IMHO Do we really need to "import"

I have always used the "import" (drag/drop) into the current open FP web,
since 1997 when I started working with FP98 and have never had any problems
with images or any other files.
When you "import" a image file directly into the FP web, you avoid having FP
modify the quality of the image.
Also by importing first, you are assured that the link to the image or file
will always be relative to the web and not back to the original location on
your HD, since the web must have been open first.

By selecting a file from "My Pictures" and having FP ask you where to save
it, FP actually messes with the quality of the image. You don't want that.
;-) Importing will eliminate that.

it, FP actually messes with the quality of the image. You don't want that.
;-) Importing will eliminate that.

Which is the same as if using explorer cut/paste, drag drop right? Doesn't all windows programs utilize explorer as the shell for file management. Do you have quality issues as stated by the above replies
I find no difference, and using import is just another "feature" that isn't really necessary, after all, why provide a "browse" option when inserting if you can't browse your entire HD? Also, if you must "publish" a backup, why is there an "export"
Not stepping on anyone's toes here, just questioning the necessity of doing things a specific way when other standard means work also. Drag & drop, is a basic part of windows, so why not use it with any microsoft product!

No, when you work within a FP web, you are working in a separate environment
that is running on top of the Windows OS. Example, when you delete files in
FP, they are not placed in the Windows Recycle Bin, they are deleted
immediately..
The export function, unless changed under FP2003, only exports individual
files one at a time.
However, you may chose to continue to work the way you currently work, and
may never have any problems, however many of us here, use the import
function, and never have problems that many who do not use the import
function, have.

In IE, if you right-click the "missing" picture and choose Show
Picture, does the picture then appear? How about if you hold down Ctrl
while clicking the Refresh button?
Are you publishing through FrontPage, using an http:// URL, or through
an FTP program?
If through FrontPage, when you open the hosted Web site in FrontPage,
and then open one of the problem pages, do the pictures appear?
If through FTP, have you verified that the picture files are in the
place you expect on the FTP site?
