Disappearing Icons

V

Vince Troia

For some reason, just recently, after I successfully log
into my Windows 2000 workstation, I am presented with my
wallpaper only. All of my desktop icons are gone! I cannot
even execute an "alt-ctrl-del" command. I tried rebooting
and it makes no difference, but if I logon as a different
user, I will be able to see that users desktop icons. I
constantly update virus defs, have scanned for viruses,
have deleted my local user and recreated it, but nothing
seems to work. I am now noticing this exact same situation
on one of the XP workstations on our network too. Any
suggestions!!! Please Help!!!
Thank You

You likely have a corrupt user profile. Delete the profile, and then
restore from backup.
