Disabling UAC for specific application

T

Tom Hall

Vista Home Premium SP2

Vista's UAC continues to nag me every time I run Eudora, my mail client,
while it has stopped nagging me about other programs, both startup items
and non-startup items.

Is there any way, short of turning UAC off altogether, to convince Vista
that I trust Eudora to run? I've tried enabling "run as administrator" and
disabling it; nothing seems to work.

TIA,

Tom

People should really hammer the makers of Eudora to make their program Vista
compliant. If it doesn't work correctly in Vista it will do no better in
Windows 7.

Check their help/support and see what they say. Maybe they actually have a
patch out.

I have dumped 3-4 programs that refused to operate within the parameters of
Vista rather than run my computers "at risk" by turning off UAC.

Unfortunately, Qualcomm abandoned Eudora some time ago. I believe it's now
called Thunderbird. I tried Thunderbird for about 10 minutes before going
back to the last version of Eudora issued by Qualcomm.

I found a means of disabling UAC for specific applications here:

A bit time-consuming but worth it - I no longer get nagged every time I
start Eudora.

Thunderbird is Mozilla's stand-alone mail product. It has nothing to do
with Qualcom or Eudora.
