Disable WILAN

Hi, I have a new laptop running Vista Home Premium. Whenever I log on and
the start up runs, I get this note at the bottom right, just above the system
tray, saying WILAN is on. I want to disable it, but there is no icon in the
system tray. How can I disable this? I used to run XP on my last laptop
and had disabled this without any problem. Many thanks.

-My daughters both have laptops with different options for turning on /off
Lan. The first laptop has a button i think on the number keys at the top of
the keyboard with a little ariel symbol on it, pressing that on off
enables/disables it. The other laptop has a sliding switch on the front of
the laptop next to the catch that opens it. Hopefully this will be of some
use.

Trish,
You might want to also visit the website of the manufacturer of your
laptop.

Most laptops have a switch on the side for manually shutting off the
wireless.

To disable the Wireless Network Connection in Vista, go to Control
Panel and search for "View Network Connections." Right
click on your "Wireless Network Connection" and select 'Disable'.
